Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need any prior experience to attend the boot camp?

Nope! This training is beginner-friendly. We’ll walk you step-by-step through everything, from rolling fingerprints to launching your business, even if you’ve never done it before.

What if I can’t attend all 3 days live?

No worries! All attendees, in-person or virtual, have 14 days after the boot camp to complete their certification requirements. You’ll have access to the online course and guided support to help you catch up and submit everything.

What if I don’t pass the certification exam or practical's?

All participants will receive a Certificate of Participation for completing the 3-day training.

However, only those who successfully complete the exam and practical assessments within 14 days of the training will earn the official Certified Fingerprinting Technician designation.

🔎 Transparency: Most states do not require a special certification to offer fingerprinting services. However, becoming certified helps you stand out as a credible, reputable, and trusted provider, especially when serving corporate, legal, or government clients.

Those who meet the certification criteria will be endorsed by OnPointe Alliance, one of the top-rated fingerprinting providers in Dallas, and added to our Preferred Partners Directory, which can lead to more visibility and opportunities.

Is certification required to offer fingerprinting services in my state?

State-Specific Requirements Disclaimer: We do not claim that certification is required to provide fingerprinting services. Requirements vary by state, and it is your responsibility to verify any local or state regulations before offering services.

Purpose of Certification
: Our certification serves as a professional endorsement, acknowledging that you have been properly trained to meet the standards expected by most client-requesting agencies.

Certification requirements vary by state. Some states do not require certification to offer fingerprinting services, however, becoming certified is strongly recommended.

Even where it’s not mandatory, most companies and agencies expect (or require) providers to be certified before they’ll send employees your way. Certification gives your business authority, credibility, and a competitive edge.

Additionally, your association with us as one of the top-rated fingerprinting providers in Dallas adds instant trust and professional backing to your brand. Clients and partners are far more likely to choose a certified provider with a proven track record and that’s exactly what this boot camp positions you to become.

What’s the difference between the in-person and virtual options?

Both options include the same core training, certification pathway, essential supply kit, and 14 days to complete your requirements.

The difference is in the experience:

* In-person attendees receive lunch each day and get hands-on practice with a master technician during training.

* Virtual attendees participate in real-time guided practice and get access to an exclusive Power Chat Q&A session for support and feedback.

Is this boot camp refundable?

Due to the cost of materials, digital resources, and limited seating, all sales are final. Please make sure you’re committed before enrolling.

How much can I really earn with fingerprinting?

Most providers charge $50–$150 (or more) per client. Even part-time, it’s common to earn $3K–$10K per month, depending on your location, marketing strategy, and consistency.

⚠️ Disclaimer: Earnings will vary based on your business model, effort, and market conditions. We do not guarantee any specific income or results. All income examples are based on our experience and that of industry peers and competitors.

Will I Learn About LiveScan or Just Traditional Rolled Ink Fingerprinting?

The core focus of this boot camp is on traditional ink rolled fingerprinting, which is required by many industries and serves as the foundation of quality fingerprinting technique.

We do introduce FBI-approved LiveScan fingerprinting during the training to help you understand how to expand into digital services.

If you're ready to go digital, we can also assist you with:

  • Choosing the best LiveScan equipment for your business

  • Understanding compliance and integration

  • Financing options to make your investment more affordable

You’ll leave with a clear understanding of when and how to add LiveScan to your business model, whether you’re starting now or planning to scale later.

Is it true that traditional ink rolled fingerprinting is outdated?

While it's referred to as the “traditional” method, ink rolled fingerprinting is far from outdated and it’s not going anywhere. In fact, due to strict FBI rules and specific regulatory requirements, there are many situations where ink rolled fingerprints are the only accepted method.

Even if every state transitions to digital one day, ink rolled will still be relevant and necessary in certain federal, legal, and international use cases.

At OnPointe Alliance, ink rolled is our bread and butter, and here’s why:

  • Very few providers are properly trained and certified to roll ink fingerprints, which means less competition and higher demand.

  • Ink rolled fingerprinting requires real skill and technique, unlike electronic systems that rely on scanning software.

  • We’ll break down exactly why every fingerprinting professional should know how to roll prints, and how it can become one of your most valuable services, especially if you're looking to stand out and grow.
